Auction House | Christie's -- from catalog: Mr. Christie | Sale Location | Premises, Corner of Harley St., Cavendish Square, London, England, UK | Seller(s) | from catalog: Henry Hope, Esq. from auctioneer's copy: [Same] | Lugt Number | 8937 | No. of Painting Lots | 49 | Notes | This sale of furniture, the property of the late Henry W. Hope, is divided into two catalogues, one for July 3-10 and the other for July 11-17. It was held on the premises of the Hope mansion in Harley St. and seems to have included everything left in the building. Most of the paintings had already been sold on Apr.6, 1811 (Br-869) and June 27/29, 1816 (Br-1413). The few that remained were minor works that may have been decorations but were more probably only items that had been previously overlooked or deemed too unimportant to include with the picture sales. None of them brought even £2, although a landscape by Corbould was bought in at £12. (B.
