NotesThe first day of this sale was devoted to prints, drawings and oil sketches by Henry Tresham and his contemporaries. The latter group consisted of works that belonged to Tresham and had failed to sell at the artist's posthumous sale on June 15 (no.1302). The second day's sale contained mostly paintings, but at the end there were a few lots of sculpture and frames. According to the auctioneer's (CL) copy of the catalogue, these were consigned by a wide variety of people. There were few works of importance included, and most lots sold for less than £5 with only a few exceeding £10. There are two versions of the catalogue. The CL copy has a lot 45a on the second day that is lacking in the VAL copy. (B. Fredericksen)
