Auction House | Squibb (George) -- from catalog: Mr. Squibb | Sale Location | Saville Place, Saville Row, London, England, UK | Seller(s) | from catalog: A Gentleman, going abroad | Lugt Number | 8716 | No. of Painting Lots | 94 | Notes | Besides paintings, this sale contained a few prints, casts and even an Indian map. The owner has not been identified, and although a number of his paintings are of unusual subjects and even by uncommon artists, they do not appear in other sales of the time. The prices seem to have been better than average for this particular auctioneer. A depiction of The Entombment by Guido Reni, evidently considered the best picture in the group given its prominence on the title page, is supposed to have brought £53.11 and a few other lots are recorded as having exceeded £20. We do not know, however, whether some of these may have been bought in. (B.
