Auction House | Christie's -- from catalog: Mr. Christie | Sale Location | [No.125] Pall Mall, London, England, UK | Seller(s) | from catalog: Recently Consigned from Paris; [and] a Foreign Nobleman from auctioneer's copy: John Woollett; Peter Delcour; etc. | Lugt Number | 8656 | No. of Painting Lots | 157 | Notes | The first part of this two-day sale was held immediately before the preceding sale (no.1261) but has been placed second in the sequence because it continued through the next day. The contents were paintings and a collection of antique gems, the latter consigned by a "foreign nobleman" who is identified by the auctioneer's (CL) copy as the Marquis de Salinas. The paintings, supposedly just consigned from Paris, belonged to a wide variety of individuals, many of whom were dealers. The largest group of paintings came from John Woollett, while smaller numbers were consigned by Peter Delcour and Henry Parr. With few exceptions the prices remained low. The highest price, £31.10, was paid by Ld. Yarmouth for a Portrait of an Old Lady by Victors. (B.
