Auction House | Jaubert (R.) -- from catalog: Mr. Jaubert | Sale Location | The New Auction Room, Pall Mall, (Late Mr. Bowyer's Gallery), London, England, UK | Seller(s) | from catalog: T.M. Slade, a Bankrupt | Lugt Number | 7826 | No. of Painting Lots | 44 | Notes | This was the second of a two-part sale for which two separate catalogues were published. The first part was devoted to drawings and prints belonging to Ld. Lavington. The second portion contained mostly pictures and some lots of ultramarine color, the property of the investor/dealer Thos. Moore Slade, who -- according to the catalogue -- was now bankrupt. Slade was responsible for having imported some major paintings into England, including the Dutch and Flemish pictures from the Orléans collection, but since the turn of the century his activity had revolved increasingly around minor sales of no special distinction. (See Buchanan, Memoirs, 1824, I, pp.320-27; and Br-52, 55, 68 and 160.) The present sale marks the end of his public career as a dealer, although a few of his pictures continued to appear in anonymous sales through 1811. Most of the lots in the present sale sold for less than £10, but some went higher. The best price was £44.2, paid for a Roman Charity by Cignani. (B.
