Auction House | Greenwood -- from catalog: Messrs. Greenwood & Co. |
Sale Location | No.16 Old Bond Street, London, England, UK |
Seller(s) | from catalog: A Gentleman |
Lugt Number | 7062 |
No. of Painting Lots | 184 |
Notes | Besides a large group of old and modern pictures, the present sale included a few prints and drawings, all of which supposedly belonged to an anonymous gentleman. At least ten lots can probably be associated with the dealer Bernard Pinney, who had consigned them for sale at Christie's the month before (Br-370) at which time most of them had been bought in. Among these were three lesser paintings from the Orléans collection. However, it is unlikely that he owned everything in the sale, and most probably a number of different sellers were involved. The results of the sale are unknown. (B. Fredericksen) |
