[Burton Fredericksen and David Ekserdjian have suggested that the Death of St. Ephraim (lot 13) is the icon attributed to Cretan Emmanuel Tzanphournaris, later in the collections of Lord Northwick at Thirlestaine (Phillip's, July 26+, 1859, lot 139) and Captain E.G. Spencer-Churchill of Northwick Park (Christie's, May 28, 1965, lot 8) (F. Russell, "Early Italian Pictures and Some English Collectors", Burlington Magazine, Feb. 1994, p. 88).
Lot 187 and lot 200, which are front and back views of the Villa Loredan, reappear as lot 97 in the March 15, 1800 sale of Strange's property. The view of the front of the villa subsequently appears on the market on December 8, 1989 at Christie's, London, as lot 114.
