Notes[Gaetano Stefano Bartolozzi (1757-1821) was an engraver and print-seller, and the son of the better-known Italian engraver Francesco Bartolozzi (1727-1815), who had been established in London for much of the second half of the eighteenth century. The younger Bartolozzi was not, however, as dedicated to the visual arts and had a much greater interest in music. This sale of his stock was held when he decided to return to Italy, reportedly to look after his mother's property in the Veneto. He returned to London by 1800 and resumed his earlier profession, although he always suffered from financial difficulties. JIAT]
