from catalog: An English Gentleman | | Lugt Number | 4327 | | Notes | "A catalogue of a valuable and genuine collection of pictures, the sole property of an English Gentleman, whose amusement and study for the last forty years has been employ'd in forming the present collection, which will be sold by auction, by Mr. Cooper, on Thursday, the 5th, of June, 1788, at the Great-Room, over the King's Arms Buildings, in Exchange-Alley, Cornhill, at eleven o'clock. N.B. In the above collection will be found the most complete works of the last three century's in Italy, Germany, and Holland, and the sole reason of this sale arises from the propietors retiring from the metropolis.
