Title page of BML is inscribed "de Vaudreuil." AAP I is inscribed "DE VAUDREUIL" but it is probably modern. AAP gives totals as 40263.5 but the figure is crossed out. BO is inscribed "de Vaudreuil." LP inscribed "Vaudreuil &c." KKBa inscribed "de Vaudreuil." Title page of BVR II is inscribed "de Vaudreuil".

See C. Bailey's Patriotic Taste, (Yale, 2002) chapter 6 on Joseph-Hyacinthe-François de Paule de Rigaud, Comte de Vaudreuil (1740-1817).

Many of the paintings had belonged just two or three years earlier to Lebrun, and were bought (or bought in) by him at the present sale. They may well have been his property throughout.
