Which will be sold by auction, by Mrss. Christie and Ansell, at their Great Room, next Cumberland House, Pall Mall, On Saturday, June 12, 1779."

There are many sellers listed in the annotated copy; only five paintings are from Thornhill. These five are the works of Sir James Thornhill, but it is unclear if "Mr. Thornhill" refers to his son, John, who died in 1757.
