NotesPostponed from the 9th. The date was changed by hand from "Monday the 9th" to "Thursday the 12th" in the BML copy of the catalogue. This sale was originally organized as a lottery by Marshall Smith in March (see "The Art World in Britain: 1660 to 1735" for citations), and was then changed to an auction. Marshall Smith is not mentioned on the auction catalogue, but it is assumed he is still the proprietor.

From catalogue: "The Collection of Original Paintings Next Bedford Gate in Charles-stree, Covent-Garden: Being beyond most before expos'd to sale in England, since there be no known Copys amongst them or mean Original, which were design'd to be sold by Lottery, at the request of divers Person's of Quality, will now be sold by Auction [...]"
