NotesThis collection of bronzes came out of the collections of the Palazzo Gaddi, Palazzo Marucelli, and the antiquary Philipp von Stosch (1691-1757). We have considered Stosch to be the seller of the lots specified as coming from his collection. We have considered Palazzo Gaddi and Palazzo Marucelli to be previous owners for the lots specified as coming from those collections. See the article about this sale by Malcolm Baker in the Collectors Files. The sale includes decorative arts objects that have not been indexed. See also Lugt 1365 (1764/03/24), which is a continuation of the present sale.

"A catalogue of the entire collection of bronzes, of the Palazzo Gaddi, Palazzo Marucelli, and the late eminent antiquary Baron Stosch; consisting of great variety of groupes, statues, busts, priapi, animals, basso and alto relievo's sacrificing vessels, instruments, &c. of Roman, Grecian, Etruscan and Egyptian workmanship; with some few modern bronzes of Mich. Anglo, Giov. di Bologna, Benv. Cellini, Fiamingo, Tacca, Algardi, and other celebrated masters. Which will be sold by auction, by Mr. Langford and Son, at their house in the Great Piaaza, Covent Garden, on Wednesday the 21st of this Instant March 1764, and the two following days."
